For the 4x4 hoop!!
One Hooping!! Zipper and All!
I decided to introduce pick up sticks to the kids. I thought they would play for a few minutes and be done. Boy was I wrong! They have been playing for days, and have even invited friends over to play a game. Notice Jack in this picture, he is so busy working out his stradegy for the next move, he can't even give MaMa some Cheese!
1st decide how many point it will take to win the game?? 200, 300, 500, or 1000??
Youngest player goes first. Hold all sticks in one hand vertically. Open hand and let them fall where they may. (All sticks need to land in playing area)
1st player picks up sticks one at a time without moving any other sticks. If any stick, besides the one he/she is picking up moves, that player’s turn is over and it is now the player to the lefts turn.
Player 2 can either continue to pick up remaining sticks or start over by picking up all of the sticks and letting go again
If a player manages to pick up the magic stick (the striped stick), that player is allowed to use the magic stick for removing other sticks. Only the magic stick can be used this way.
If a player picks up all of the sticks, that player should begin again and play until he/ she looses the turn.
1st player to reach the set goal is the winner!!
Variations
1st player drops all of the sticks. Play continues clockwise until ALL the sticks have been picked up. Person with the highest score wins.
(My kids love this version!!)
Pick up all of the sticks in color order to double your points!! Red, Blue, Yellow, green.
Roll dice to see who goes first
Roll the dice to see if you can add more points:
1,2, or 3 points stay the same. 4, 5, or 6 points are double for that turn.
Number of Sticks/ Color/ Point Value
1 Magic Stick= 25, 7 Red= 10, 7 Blue= 5, 8 Yellow= 2, 7 Green= 1
Who says ya can't paint toothpicks?
Ella even wanted in on the action. I don't recommend little ones to play with toothpicks, but I let her help put them away after we took their picture. She was so happy she got to help.
This little Game Bag is 100% done in the hoop, in just one hooping!! Zipper and all! You will love doing zippers in the hoop! They turn out perfect every time!!

Colored Toothpicks-
If you can't find them, Paint them!! Go with Polka dots and Stripes. Make them cute!! Go wild!
I decided we needed a little travel pouch, with the point value of each stick, so we can take it with us. I am super proud of how completely inexpensive I did this one:
Material- Free (Cut off Jeans), Toothpicks- $.68 Walmart. Paint $.33 from Michaels, zipper $1.21. I have enough tooth picks in one jar to make 4 sets!! That makes each set cost about $1.50!! (give or take some thread)
This is a GREAT quiet game!! You'll thank me later. :)
